Australia offers international students a high-quality education in a safe and welcoming environment. International students have been enrolled in Australian schools since the 1950s. Around 527,259 international students are enrolled in Australian schools for the January – July 2022 period.

There are several tests in Australia developed to evaluate the English language proficiency of international students wishing to gain admission to Australian schools. They include the International English Language Testing System test (IELTS), the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), the Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) test, the Occupational English Test (OET) and the Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic test.

Yes, students are usually limited to working up to 20 hours per week during semester and unlimited hours during school holidays. You won’t be able to work until after your course has commenced.
If you have dependants, you might be able to bring them with you to Australia. You can apply to bring your family to Australia on your initial student visa application, or you can apply to have your family join you after your course starts.
Dependants of student visa holders are allowed to work in Australia for 20 hours per week once the student has started their course. If the student’s course of study is a course for the award of a masters or doctorate degree registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses of Overseas Students, a dependent may work unlimited hours.
